The God Clause and the Reinsurance Industry - BusinessWeek: "“The psychology piece dominates, even in boardrooms,” says David Bresch. “People measure against the perceived reality around them and not against possible futures.”"
Sales people will be one of the groups whose importance grows rather than declines over time. Sales also cannot be outsourced effectively because the cultural context of the salesperson creating a connection with the customer is so important and complex.

Beach ATV cop: My blood test was illegal - Miami Beach - MiamiHerald.com
Even if the joyriding cop were sober, he should still be canned for driving with the lights off on the beach and smashing 2 people. Nice diversionary tactic.

Shawn Loftis, Gay OK, but Scorn Porn?
Shawn Loftis, Substitute Teacher, Gets Canned By Miami Dade Public Schools For Being a Gay Porn Star - Miami News - Riptide 2.0
There are plenty of gay teachers so while I'm sure some parents have issues, it's not a critical mass. Porn stars engage in activities that much of the public enjoy doing and watching. Porn stars get paid for what are essentially one night stands. Many of us have enjoyed one night stands. Most teachers have enjoyed one night stands. Most guys have taken a girl out to dinner, bought her flowers, or splurged on a V-Day gift, but of course that was all about the love--no sexual expectations or blackmail there. Donald Trump somehow keeps marrying much younger models, and is a big star, respected by some--I consider him a pompous prick?
Do these fact not feel a bit hypocritical?
At first I questioned whether I would let Shawn teach my kid. Now, I'd be fine with it. If he were doing peda-porn, NO WAY. But, that's not about the porn, it about the attraction to children.

Ban on Using Food Stamps to Buy Soda Rejected by U.S.D.A. - NYTimes.com
Ban on Using Food Stamps to Buy Soda Rejected by U.S.D.A. - NYTimes.com: “If healthier food is made affordable and accessible,” he said, “low-income people will line up to get it.”
I bet the guy who said this is a Keynesian. But really, do people really think that fatties can't find a store with a carrot or that frozen vegetables aren't available? And even if all one eats are Cheetos and Funions, if only a subsistence number of calories are consumed one will not get fat. Chalk of a victory for the corn and softdrink lobby.

Welcome to Haiti
How the World Failed Haiti | Rolling Stone Politics: "I'm at this river the other day, and here's what I see: three men washing some Land Rovers in the water, two pigs having sex, a group of children gutting some pigs and cleaning their intestines right next to the pigs having sex, and a few women washing clothes and bathing — all in the same tiny part of the river. And next to all of that was a hand-washing poster put up by some NGO to teach people good hygiene."
Cha Cha Rooster SUCKS!
Don't do it!!! In addition to the poor food, I ordered a duck breast and was server a leg/thigh. I brought this to the waiters attention and he asked the cook who said it was a breast. That it was in fact a leg/thigh was easily confirmed and the image was showed to the waiter. No compensation was offered. I did not send it back because I feared food tampering (spit). It was awful and I'm sure a breast would not have changed that. I am not putting an address or map because you should not got there.

Mike's China Beach Chinese
Do it! Hole in the wall meant primarily for take out. Very fresh and yummy. Will make it extra spicy on demand. Honey chicken in lightly breaded, crispy, and should be shared. It is very sweet. One table, where what appears to be the chef's daughter sits watching TV between taking orders. Food cooked per order. Lunch including a can of pop is %6.95; dinner $9.95. Steam or fried rice is included in the price. With dinner you also get a really good egg roll.
Roasters' n Toasters
Do it! Quite possibly the dumbest name ever for a Jewish Deli, but very yummy with the customarily large servings. My girlfriend an I split an open faced corned beef and pastrami sandwich served on a knish with sourkraut between the knish and meet and melted Swiss cheese on top (not very Kosher, eh). Damage, $13.50, but both left full and happy. Soft drinks are a bit expensive for a sandwich deli.
